Pr 31:28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and praise her.
What a wonderful gift God gives to us! While God has made us in His image, He has given us the opportunity to have children that resemble ours. The wonder of the creation of DNA gives the likeness of one parent or both. God has given scientists the opportunity to peer into this magnificent creation in action through cell division and to see growth in the womb in action. What a marvelous gift!
Yet we find that the churches in the world use Genesis for a foundational teaching for marriage, the role models for husbands and wives, the creation of Adam’s help meet and for thwarting Satan and his temptations, but we leave out the command of God to bear children and fill the earth.
It is so essential to our role as women, that it was said in the Bible that even the conditions for financial support from the church for widows would be contingent upon several things, among which are that the woman will have been “well reported for good works; if she have brought up children” I Tim 5:10.
And also that the younger women be encouraged to do the following:
1Ti 5:14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
In Genesis, I also don’t see a mandate that one shouldn’t procreate if one has a career or if one lives in a one-room hut as opposed to a 5-bedroom home. Let’s remember God’s admonition:
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
Heb 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
God says “children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him.” Psalm 127:3. I can’t imagine God giving this blessing to only those who were rich in this world, for God has said, “the poor will always be with you.” John 12:8. But are they denied the joy of the gift of children? Will God provide? He says He will. It’s hard to place that trust in Him in this world full of luxuries, such as having a bedroom for each child. “When He returns, will He find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8. We live in a rich country. Even those who are poor here aren’t really poor compared to the majority of the world. We’re rich!!
So, why does God hold this vocation with such high honour?
It is of utmost importance to God that we follow his example and preach the gospel of “bringing many sons to glory.”
Heb 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory.
This is the gospel of the Kingdom — family. It is difficult for me to believe that millions of dollars are spent proclaiming this message to the world and we thwart the very gospel we preach. We are the ambassadors for Christ and teach about the coming Kingdom of God, which entails bringing many sons to glory while we have in our own hands the direct ability to do this ourselves. God has given us life. We can honor Him by giving back what God has given to us – these precious gifts, children for His Kingdom.
Ro 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Ro 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
“Into the woman’s keeping is committed the destiny of the generations to come after us.”

Even if your mate is not called, you still have the responsibility to lead them in the way of God and your children are holy and are called also to be in God’s family.
1Co 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.
We, ladies, are responsible for bringing up our children in the admonition of the Lord, to teach them the way they should go to bring them to their spiritual Father.
We cannot do this if there are no children!
FOR TODAY: Let’s not forget to praise God for the awesome ability to bring sons and daughters into this world and into the family of God, no matter what our circumstances. Let’s thank Him for His promise to never leave us nor forsake us in this life in our role as mothers. Our Father appreciates you and places you in high honour for assisting Him in preaching the gospel through your gift of children in this life, the most beautiful God ordained role of all.
”The birth pangs make all men the debtors of all women. Above all our sympathy and regard are due to the struggling wives among those whom Abraham Lincoln called the plain people, and whom he so loved and trusted; for the lives of these women are often led on the lonely heights of quiet, self-sacrificing heroism.”
