Running The Race

It’s not following giant’s steps

That lead us to our goal

But carrying those with feeble knees

To God who’ll make them whole

It’s not with selfish striving

That we come to win the race

But reaching out to wipe the tears

Of those who need God’s grace

It’s not in following learned men

Who seem to know the way

But our path is clearly shown

By God when we do pray

In knowing that the last are first

It’s time to truly seek

The others that do fall behind

To carry those who’re weak

To make the last be first it seems

Take hearts who follow Him

And mimicking the mind of Christ

It’s all of us who’ll win
