Hope For The Unborn

Part III

Not only is God creator of all life around us, He is also creator of life within the womb.  In Exodus,  His law protected the unborn by punishment that would apply to human beings after birth, i.e., life for life.

Exodus 21:22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

Exodus 21:23 And if any harm follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
Exodus 21:24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
Exodus 21:25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
This is a serious crime as far as God is concerned.  Just as we have laws to protect human life, God certainly makes it clear that His little ones are to be protected as well.

So far, through Part I and Part II, we have described the physical and Biblical proofs that unborn children are living and should be protected and cared for.  If we are alive and uniquely human from the earliest stages then it stands to reason that God considers us His children.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (KJV)

We believe children are human and alive from fertilization and worthy of the resurrection of the last day.

The concern over abortifacients.

The Pill uses three methods for “controling birth.”  First estrogen to delay ovulation.  Second a thickening of mucus to impede sperm movement.  Third a of the uterine walls, thus preventing implantation of a fertilized egg. This third line of defence is accomplished by an abortifacient. This abortifacient destroys the unborn child who is already conceived by denying implantation. The general definition of “abortifacient” is “a drug or agent that induces an abortion.”

In the mid 60’s, due largely to pressure from the pharmaceutical companies, the definition of conception was change from…at fertilization…to…at implantation.  Why was this done? Because the companies knew they could not market effectively a known abortifacient. Until that time anything that caused the death of the fertilized egg was called an abortifacient.

The modern Pill’s first line of defence (delaying ovulation) is not as effective as it once was. In 1988 the amount of estrogen allowed in the Pill was reduced from 150 micrograms to 50 micrograms so as to reduced  dangerous side effects. The Pill now relies more heavily on its other devices one of which is the “hardening” of the uterine wall. This can cause a chemically induced abortion.

Speaking of the Pill…

“Scientific papers suggest that escape ovulation occurs 4-15% of all cycles in patients taking birth control pills. Thus…early chemical abortions are a real and significant concern.”

Paddy Jim Baggot, M.D., Ob/Gyn,
Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics

Dr. Ronald Chez, a scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), publicly stated that the new Pills of today, with their lower estrogen dose, allow ovulation up to 50% of the time! (Source: Sterns, David, M.D., Sterns, Gina, R.N., B.S.N., Yaksich, Pamela, “Gambling with Life, How the I.U.D. and ‘The Pill’ Work”

Can we afford to overlook this information?   The consequences of leaving the issue unresolved could be disastrous. Would God turn his face away from even one of his children? Can we be so bold as to ignore the fact that The Pill has an abortifacient  property?

Conclusion: The hope of many women (and men), that have lost children to miscarriage or abortion, is that they will see their loved ones again at the resurrection of the last day. Knowing also that a new life is conceived at fertilization and not implantation is a vital key to prevent chemically induced abortions, even if it is only one child made in the image of our great God.

I hope that this study paper has encouraged you and given you hope that you will see your little one(s) again.  God is merciful and full of compassion.  If we have had abortions and truly repent and beseech God for His forgiveness, He is ready and willing to forgive.  I truly believe God will stretch out His arms in the  resurrection to hand you your little one,  fully formed and in need of your love.   Praise God for His awesome mercy!

  1. Oh, this is so wonderful!!! I have learned this in the past when talking with a minister in our church who felt it was okay to take this pill to prevent implantation– I think it was called RU32?? I wish the church would publish information like this. There are so many “Christians” who think it is alright to kill a baby in this way, or to kill a baby who is the product of a violent act. 😦 No baby deserves death for ANY reason, not even for the violence of it’s father.
Thank you so much for sharing this.

    • Thank you Amber. There are many many Christians who believe that taking the pill and other contraceptive devices are not harmful, because they are not told by those counseling them. I didn’t know before reading these studies done. I hope you will share this information with others, so that they can be aware as well. It would be helpful to encourage our ministers to learn this in order to share with those entering marriage.
