I hope I can meet you all through this blog. I really desire to get to know you as well, and I too would like to know the wisdom of the older women in the church, as I have had and still have bumps and mountains along the way and am still growing and learning. But God gives the grace thankfully! 🙂
A little about myself: I’m been in the church for 41 years now, the United Church of God. I felt that the Word of God instructed me to be with my children at home. I have four children, three daughters and a son, who I really treasure. They have been the reason for my life since I have had them, when I arose and when I lay down.
I now have nine grandchildren, whom I also treasure. I have homeschooled all four of my children. My daughter also homeschools her children. I’m so happy that I could pass on that blessing to her. It gives me great joy to know that my children are trying to serve God. Such gifts are unmeasurable!
At first, a few of them attended the public school as I tried to get my nerve up to homeschool them. They were putting families in jail at that time in Michigan, and I was a little leary. It was a struggle at first, but I found the method that worked best for me. I am so thankful I had the time with them and developed that wonderful relationship.
We weren’t perfect parents. I will admit to that, but I feel that our children knew that we loved them. We had fun in our everyday lives, learning things together, playing together, exploring nature together, serving the church and the elderly in our communities. Those memories are so wonderful. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
We didn’t have a lot of money, and I know that people were not accepting of that, thinking that we should have the money that two parents working would have for them, but we had love, and that was the most important gift of all. Money can’t buy that! After all, God did say, “the poor will always be with you.” We certainly weren’t poor in joy!
So, as I said, I look forward to hearing from you and growing in your experience with how you overcame your trials and accomplishments.
God be with you all!
